What should I expect from my first session?

Treatment Room, bed, table

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

To prepare for treatments we recommend wearing loose and comfortable clothing, this is so it is easier for the practitioner to access a variety of points on the body without the patient having to disrobe. It is also recommended to have had something small to eat prior to treatment, especially if the patient is prone to fainting.

Acupuncture, Acupuncture needle

Do the needles hurt?

The needles that are used are extremely thin, for reference approximately 10 acupuncture needles can fit inside of a standard syringe used when getting a blood test. Upon initial insertion it is common to feel a little pinch, once the needle is inserted to the correct depth sensations such as; heaviness, tingling/buzzing, numbness and aching are all normal sensations known as the "De Qi" sensation.

Cupping Treatment

Why do large bruises form after cupping treatment?

These are known as cupping marks. They are essentially caused by bringing stagnant blood in the affected area to the surface of the skin so that it is able to freely circulate back into the body. This doesn't always occur as it is dependent on the amount of stagnant blood in the area. Individuals such as weight lifters usually have a higher chance of these marks occurring as their muscles are constantly pumped and filled with blood
